The majority of people my age and older (and starting younger) are pretty much impolite jerks, who go out into the world seeing only what they want and what they want, is everything. Now.

This is not an opinion shaped by the media, reading statistics or made through some terrible life experience of my own, but from seeing the way people act on a daily basis. The crime rates in a lot of areas have remained the same, if not decreased, however, it is not these rates that determine how we connect as people. The general apathy of society has become something which constantly surprises me. We have all been taught be be frightened if strangers approach us, to feel suspicion to those who act kind… there is no such thing as the kindness of strangers until there is a drastic situation.

Okay, a somewhat extreme example. Let’s pretend there is a drowning woman, a stranger goes out and saves her, a completely kind act. She will be so thankful, that her life is now saved. Now, pretend again this woman is sitting at a park, and the stranger bought too much of something, we will go with apples. The stranger offers the apples to the woman, a completely kind act. How many of you are willing to bet the woman will either not take them at all, or be suspicious of the stranger until finally trusting them enough to take them, not necessarily eat them. Why does it now take extreme circumstances for us to believe that people are genuinely kind? It’s not the people who get locked up behind bars that scare me anymore, those people get caught the majority of the time. It’s the people who walk around and ignore a situation simply because it doesn’t involve them directly.

People are more likely to tweet about a tragedy to get a reaction from others than to actually react themselves.

After being in Busan, South Korea for about 3 weeks, I became quite sick. I blame the kids entirely, we had a number of them out of school with the H1N1 and the rest who weren’t diagnosed with it were sent out to school. I decided to wait until I received my Alien Card which would give me access to everything, healthcare, a cell phone, internet, cable and a bank account. By the time it came in, I was beginning to have fevers, and all that good stuff that usually comes with the flu. After reaching the school on one morning I decided I needed medicine, and possibly immediate medical attention as I couldn’t breathe properly.

I was immediately taken to a ear, throat, nose hospital where I was sat into a chair with a doctor who had a light and videocamera attached to his head. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary until the metal tubes came out. I had tubes put through my nose and down into my throat, with air to be later pushed through. After this the doctor looked in my ears, said I had an infection, then proceeded to go anatomy ears with what I can only describe as a tiny metal spoon. Despite a little bit of pain, I immediately began to hear better. The doctor then showed me my own eardrum, which was a first for me. I was then put in front of a ventilator for about 5 minutes, which made my sore throat completely numb.

Although this sounds completely intrusive, with it also came my first realization about the difference between Western and Eastern medical practices. In Canada, they would give you medication, and you would be better in about a week, your body is cleaned, more or less, on its own. Here, my problem was solved in the seat, with medication to prevent it’s return. I couldn’t believe how quick my ear infection had been taken care of, of course at the time, while I stared at my own eardrum in the television screen, I was completely bewildered. Even though I hope that I don’t become ill again while I am here, I am very curious as to what other differences there are. Maybe it’s just one of those things I am better off not knowing.

We have all had that feeling where you just don’t feel like you can trust certain people around your significant other. It’s not that you don’t trust who you are with, it’s more that you know other people are not half as morally upright in comparison to them. There is a limit that needs to be put on this. You can’t simply hate every person who happens to be around your other half, just the select few who don’t understand social boundaries when it comes to those who are in a relationship. However, we can’t only blame those people we feel threatened by. The person we choose to be with should be providing some kind of security or promise to remain faithful. Without some form of loyalty, there is no true relationship, just two people continuing to look for someone to actually make an effort with.

I realize most people would adamantly deny if they did cheat or even if they were thinking about cheating, but at least in the end you will know that they are not worth your time. Let the home wrecker have them and see how far their scattered version of loyalty can take them. Besides, even though some of us are far too considerate to stoop to their level, you can at least be happy knowing that whoever you were with previously will probably end up in the same spot as you were put into.

It’s Christmas! Hooray! I hope it’s filled with everything you asked for this year and more. Hopefully you are surrounded by family, friends or at the very least spent messaging those people you love. And hey, if they don’t message back, well, screw them.

I’m pretty sure the majority of women have created this idea in their mind’s of how a proposal is supposed to be, or if they want one at all. You always hear stories from friends of friends about this whole romantic night, or an amazing way a man decided to pop the question. Somehow I think this is happening less and less though. You hear less about the amazing stories and start to here more about how people never think he will pop the question. I think too many people now seem to forget how much others do for them, it’s as if they believe they can get the same thing from any person they are with. No one is special anymore, everyone becomes temporary, a different flavour for that particular time until the state of a relationship is called into question. Instead of having answers for the questions, people run. Why debate the hard questions when you can just find an easy girl?

I guess we all hope that one day we will become part of the magical group, who become that friend of a friend, with the ring they thought would never come.

I am not sure how I feel about the whole giving physical improvements as gift thing… I mean we now have parents getting their kid’s teeth whitened… the baby teeth. We do live in a very superficial age, people are judged based on what they can afford, how they look, where they live and sometimes where they were raised. Being a woman who has grown up while the world has become obsessed with plastic surgery, I can say that there are and have been many insecurities about the shape or size of just about everything on my body.

If someone offered me free boobs would I take them? Possibly, I mean everyone knows the bigger they are the more attention you get, some might say the better you feel, but doesn’t accepting them mean you don’t believe you are good enough without any plastic? It took you going out and being moulded to someone else’s idea of perfection in order to make you feel better?

I think the people who go out and have surgery, hoping that they will feel better about themselves will never be satisfied with anything a doctor can put into any part of their body. If you think your breasts are too small, you want to make them bigger, do it to make you happy…not for anyone else.

I mean after a couple years you pretty much know all the boundaries of what the other person will do, or won’t do, but don’t you ever get curious about what certain things that you cannot have are like?

Sometimes you have to spice things up. Break out of the mundane ritual you have found yourselves in. Maybe it just takes change? I can honestly say I am starting to forget what romance feels like. I would love to get a surprise, or flowers, or to have an evening planned for me and one other person, a candlelit dinner, hell even an email…anything that would make a person feel special, or for just that second/minute/hour to feel like they are the only ones who matter in the world.

Sometimes you just need something unexpected.

Keep checking boy-vs-girl to see where Boy goes wrong.

Have you ever felt like your relationship is a science experiment gone awry? I mean no other relationship could possibly be as screwed up as yours right? Sadly, this may actually be true, I think every single relationship is completely screwed up in it’s own unique way. I would absolutely love to get an outside opinion of when things go wrong, what the other person is thinking, what to work on…pretty much anything that continues to be a mystery even after dating for this long. Maybe there are some things members of the opposite sex are never supposed to understand, maybe it’s only the people who we are with right now that we are supposed to figure out…not the whole gender.

In movies and sometimes books it is always the male who doesn’t understand the inner workings of the mind of a female. However, it seems completely overlooked that women aren’t mind readers either, I mean we try, but come on sometimes you guys confuse the hell out of us. A couple of my male friend’s gave me a hints as to how to understand what a male is saying: what he says is ALL he means. It’s so simple, there is no hidden meaning usually, just exactly what is said. We have become so used to using this cryptic language and trying to make the opposite sex decode what we say, we automatically assume they do the same.

Bring in the expert help when the situation boils down to an all or nothing… or when you feel like stumping the best.

Keep checking up for updates on boy vs girl!

I know there are many people out there who are or have always been fans of Christmas music, but I don’t think it was until I was without it, that I realized how essential it is to get into that Christmas spirit. I have worked in retail for the worst part of 5 years. Meaning I had Christmas music constantly replayed. Everyday. Every couple of hours. I found myself humming along on certain days while helping out with the decorations. I just never realized, until I was put into a country with no Christmas music, how essential it is. There is one type of music for this season that will annoy me and hopefully everyone else on this planet.

The boy band remixes.

How the hell did anyone record this and honestly believe that it would sell? Or that someone would actually enjoy this while sitting near a Christmas tree? I have yet to see someone break out into Christmas song and choose a boy band rendition instead of a classical arrangement. How about a nice choir? Do the people hearing these boy band renditions even know which band performs them? I doubt it. I hope that by the time they reach retirement they regret releasing a Christmas album.

So no, I will not post a link to what I’m referring to. I will not lend these boy bands any more ears!

I never remember to buy socks for myself and usually wait to get my stocking at Christmas to get a bunch of new ones. I have yet to hear of one person who has too many socks, you wear them everyday! Be grateful you got anything besides coal, whiners.

Besides, Boy was probably in need of many new pairs of socks… and underwear. Have you ever noticed that guys tend to hold onto ratty and ripped boxers until the cotton is barely holding onto the elastic? I mean I hear people complaining about granny panties on women, but at least on laundry day we own something that doesn’t look like moths live by our crotches. I’m an underwear fanatic, I have about two drawers full… so maybe it’s just me, but there is no bigger turn off than ripped boxers, boxer briefs or anything in that range. You can physically see someone made no effort to dress that region up. Ripped pants and shirts I can deal with, underwear needs to be presentable!

You would think by that point it takes more effort putting the ripped underwear on, making sure your foot does’t go through the new holes, pulling them up just right so they don’t rip anymore, ensuring that some animal claim them as a toy…

Just throw them out. Three new ones will probably cost you about $5.

Keep checking for daily updates until Christmas!
